Are you asking for help?

Hello lovely

How are you?

First and foremost! Check in with yourself. Tell me how is your heart feeling?

I can tell you mine has been feeling sick, exhausted, overwhelmed, emotional and grateful.

I’ve been in one of the most full seasons of my life! Travelling with a 16 month old to two amazing countries after two years of no travel, running a business and then coming back to sickness for us both. Then on top of it, my husband had to go away for work – and next week, I’m away for a week with absolutely no reception as I’ll be trekking the Larapinta Trail in Central Australia. OH! And I’ve been organising a charity event (it’s on today!) and a retreat, which is on two days after I get back.

So, yes, it’s all a bit mad and you can see where the overwhelm is coming in. Some of it was planned, some of it was not.

The lesson in this? More down time needed! So actually, the Larapinta Trail and the Rest & Receive Retreat cannot come at a better time.

However, the real lesson I’ve learned in this past month when everything was feeling all too much was the importance of asking for help! Recognising that I absolutely cannot do this alone, the motherhood side or the business side, and that support is a must have.

Thankfully, I am rather good at asking for help. It still takes courage, it still takes for me to get a little bit too low before I reach out, but I do ask for help.

After reaching out to some of my wonderful business women in a fab mastermind, a gorgeous colleague shared this amazing TED talk from Barbara Sher. It’s called “Isolation is the dream-killer, not your attitude” and it’s all about the importance of asking for help in order to achieve our dreams.

If you do nothing else today, please watch this video! It is absolutely worth it and this wise woman shares such simple and sage advice in a delightfully endearing way.

Without ruining it for you, here are a few of my take aways.

Ask for help!
You never know who you’re talking to!
Framework: Here’s my wish & here’s my obstacle
To achieve success, we depend on each other’s dreams coming true

“You have to figure out what you want.

You have to figure out how to ask for help.

You have to remember wishes and obstacles.

You have to let people help you.

Because you have to go after your dreams and never tell me you can’t do it!”

– Barbara Sher

So, what do you need HELP with that you aren’t asking for?

Cheers
