Network. Network. Network.
If I could give my clients one piece of business advice, its – network!
It’s not what you know, it’s who you know is so true and it’s been proven time and time again in my business.
I would not be where I am today in my work, or in my life, without the networks and connections that I’ve forged.
I’m not gonna lie – I’m a star communicator. Like literally I get “top fan” and “all star” on social media networks regularly. I even once had Nova 96.9 radio station in Sydney tell me I was on their top caller list.
Building and maintaining relationships is my strength.
But just because communication may not be yours, doesn’t mean you can’t work on it.
Dale Carnegie’s book “How to win friends and influence people” is my go to here. The principles he wrote about back in the 1920s are still relevant today and they are so simple!
- Be genuinely interested in others
- Give someone your attention when they speak
- Be “Hearty in your approbation and be lavish in your praise.” So be nice in other words.
It’s not hard. But it does take consistency and practice.
Having a network of people, who you truly like and connect with, can greatly support you in life. Whether it’s “building your tribe” or “finding your people”, the truer you are to yourself – the greater these connections will be.
