Sherpa – Movie Screenings around Australia – Tickets Giveaway

Sherpa is an awe inspiring, emotional and epic story of one  of the biggest tragedies to ever occur on Mount Everest. See this film to learn more about what life is really like for those who work and live on the World’s largest mountain.

Sherpa

A fight on Everest? It seemed incredible. But in 2013 news channels around the world reported an ugly brawl at 21,000ft as European climbers fled a mob of angry Sherpas.

In 1953, New Zealander Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay had reached the summit in a spirit of co-operation and brave optimism. Now climbers and Sherpas were trading insults – even blows. What had happened to the happy, smiling Sherpas and their dedication in getting foreigners to the top of the mountain they hold so sacred?

Determined to explore what was going on, the filmmakers set out to make a film of the 2014 Everest climbing season, from the Sherpas’ point of view. Instead, they captured a tragedy that would change Everest forever.

At 6.45am on 18th April, 2014, a 14 million ton block of ice crashed down onto the climbing route through the Khumbu Icefall, killing 16 Sherpas. It was the worst tragedy in the history of Everest.

The disaster provoked a drastic reappraisal about the role of the Sherpas in the Everest industry. SHERPA, tells the story of how, in the face of fierce opposition, the Sherpas united in grief and anger to reclaim the mountain they call Chomolungma.

Nominated by the British Academy of Film & Television for the Best Documentary Award, the film been described by industry bible Variety as Œmagnificent¹. It is a must-see documentary capturing the aftermath of one of the biggest tragedies on Mount Everest.

Media Release: Marta Pacek (Australia) and The Jessica Stuart Few (Canada) to tour Australia this Autumn

We are very excited to be working with the incredible Marta Pacek again and the first time with The Jessica Stuart Few on their upcoming Australian Autumn Tour 2015.

Read more about these amazing artists and where you can catch them in March & April along the East Coast of Australia and even WA.

MARTA PACEK & THE JESSICA STUART FEW (CANADA)

2015 AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Wafting through the Autumn air this March/April will be the sounds of Alt Folk singer-songwriter MARTA PACEK and Canadian Folk/Jazz power trio THE JESSICA STUART FEW, co-headlining their first Australian tour together.

Over the last few years, Melbournian MARTA PACEK has drifted between North America and Australia with her guitar, the “modern day gypsy” delighting audiences with songs from her debut album Rebel Baby, and 2014’s Voodoo Dolls and False Alarms. ‘Voodoo Dolls…’ features Marta’s heartfelt & wistful Alt folk / country offerings and was produced by Brooklyn’s Brad Albetta (Martha Wainwright, Angus & Julia Stone, Glen Hansard). Its Australian release saw first single ‘Nothing Going On’ added to DIG/Double J & the Country Music Channel’s ‘Alt Country’ slot, along with community radio airplay & ABC Radio live performances. After beginning her career writing, recording & touring with Mark Seymour, Marta has gone on to win various music awards and secure worldwide TV & film placements. Live, this lady will have you under her spell when she takes to the stage. To coincide with the upcoming tour, Marta will release her new single & video Sometimes You Lose (lifted off her latest album Voodoo Dolls and False Alarms).

“(Pacek’s) fine voice will capture you right away, and she has the songs to match up with the best.”

Bob Mersereau (Veteran Canadian Broadcaster/CBC Music)

If you have never witnessed a Japanese 13-stringed harp (Koto) in action, then let Canada’s award winning Indie Folk/Jazz trio THE JESSICA STUART FEW show you how it’s done. Living in Japan as a child and growing up with a Koto master for a mother, Jessica’s innovative take on the instrument has put traditional Asian sounds next to double bass, drums & three-part harmonies in a compelling contemporary singer-songwriter context. Stuart’s beguiling vocals and signature songwriting (often compared to that of Joni Mitchell), coupled with The JS Few’s upbeat fusion of folk, soul, jazz & rock has seen the trio gain worldwide critical acclaim – garnering rave reviews, international airplay, a Top 40 single (Don’t Ya) in Japan and numerous awards. Renowned for their dynamic live performances, The Jessica Stuart Few have graced the main stages of Festivals in Canada, Japan, Germany & USA, and have performed alongside the likes of Jamie Cullum, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Bruce Cockburn and members of The Barenaked Ladies among others. Be sure to keep an ear out for the exclusive Australian pre-release of their infectious new single What Is It For, a sneak peak of what to expect from their late 2015 album.

“It’s a rare album that comes along that truly sounds unique and independent of the rest. Toronto’s The Jessica Stuart Few gave me one of those WTF moments, stopping me in my tracks for a good, close listen…  Stuart has a gorgeous voice, pure and expressive… All that, and the distinctive koto playing, a blend not heard anywhere else.” Bob Mersereau (CBC Music)

Is there life after death? Experts gather to share evidence and experience at Australian Afterlife Explorers Conference 2015.

Is there life after death? Experts gather to share evidence and experience at Australian Afterlife Explorers Conference.

Sydney, Australia – The inaugural Australian Afterlife Explorers Conference, to be held at the Parramatta RSL in Sydney’s West from 24-26 January 2015, is about to forge the link between science and spirituality.

“Death is one of life’s greatest mysteries,” says conference organiser Mick Turner. “When we die do we simply no longer exist, or is there a continuity of consciousness and progression of our soul?”

 afterlife conference logo

The modern debate over the possibility that our consciousness might survive the physical death of our body is often reduced to a false dichotomy of science vs. religion.

“As such, scientists sadly often ignore and ridicule reports of strange phenomena from those who have approached, and in some cases gone beyond, the threshold of death … even though such experiences have a profound effect upon those who undergo them.”

Some of Australia’s most knowledgeable professionals will be presenting at the conference including; Debbie Malone, spirit medium and clairvoyant, Barry Eaton, broadcaster and author, retired lawyer Victor Zammit, International President of the Michael Newton Institute, Peter Smith, and Australian social scientist Michele Knight.

Today survival research and consciousness studies are the new frontier of scientific inquiry.

“With absolute certainty the evidence shows that life does go on and you will see your loved ones again,” says speaker Zammit.

“One of the most important benefits of this conference will be to help people realise that life is ongoing, only the body dies,” adds Eaton.

The Afterlife Conference is expected to attract psychologists and medical practitioners, spiritual observers and members of the general public.

Attendees will benefit from the latest in-depth knowledge of survival evidence from presentations, specialist workshops and evening demonstrations by mediums.

Over three days there will be twenty-one presentations with a diverse array of topics such as ‘The Metaphysical Experiences of Following and Observing Three Souls at the Moment of Physical Death’ by Mark Woods.

“It’s time we all realised that we are eternal beings,” says Peter Smith. “We have Life between Lives Therapists validating the afterlife experience for clients in forty countries around the world on a daily basis.”

Places for the conference are strictly limited, bookings can be made at: www.afterlifeexplorers.com.au

The Australian Afterlife Explorers Conference , Sydney, January 24-26 in 2015.

Death is one of life’s greatest mysteries. Do we really die and simply no longer exist, or does our soul continue on a journey after we draw our last breath? The big question is what do the experts say?

The inaugural Australian Afterlife Explorers Conference will be held at the Parramatta RSL in Sydney’s West from January 24-26 in 2015. It offers a fascinating line-up of experts, researchers and authors.

The Australian Afterlife Explorers Conference has built the bridge between science and spirituality. Conference goers will get the chance to harness the latest in-depth knowledge and evidence.

Some of Australia’s most knowledgeable professionals will be presenting including Debbie Malone – spirit medium and clairvoyant, Barry Eaton, broadcaster and author, retired lawyer Victor Zammit, International President of the Michael Newton Institute, Peter Smith, and Australian academic Michele Knight.

“My expectation is that the Afterlife Explorer’s Conference will confirm, many times over, that we are spiritual beings incarnated in physical form, rather than human beings striving for some spiritual existence. ” (Mick Turner, organiser)

“With absolute certainty the evidence shows that life does go on and you will see your loved ones again.” (Victor Zammit, speaker)

“One of the most important benefits of this conference will be to help people realise that life is ongoing, only the body dies.” (Barry Eaton, speaker)

“Interdimensional Trans Communication (ITC), which is inclusive of Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) provides empirical evidence about the multidimensional nature of consciousness, and people attending the Conference will have their minds challenged and expanded.” (Rob Smith, speaker)

Whether you’re grieving the loss of a loved one, curious about what happens when others die, or pondering your own mortality, then this conference will leave you feeling less fearful about death, inspired to live a more loving and purposeful life, and comforted by new thoughts of your loved ones in the afterlife.

The conference is expected to attract psychologists and medical practitioners, spiritual observers and members of the general public. Do we really die, or is there life after death?
