I’ve always had an element of giving back in my business and it is my true belief that it is possible for all of us to make an impact through the work that we do.
When we lost a gorgeous friend and colleague in January, I knew that there was something that could be done to honour her and to impact the life of a woman in the future. Reaching out to the amazing women at Ausmumpreneur, the Overcoming the Odds Scholarship was created to continue the legacy of Cassandra Jones.
In honour of the late Cass Jones, a passionate member of the AusMumpreneur community, Women’s Business School and Lovelly Communications have joined forces to offer this unique scholarship to a person with a disability or chronic illness.
Cass Jones was the founder of Gentlemen Jones, a barber shop in Townsville, Queensland. Her successful business not only provided a brilliant service to their loyal customers, but it also offered people with a disability the opportunity to gain skills and employment through her expert training.
She had big dreams and plans, especially after attending the Ausmumpreneur Awards and Retreat in November 2021 where she was a stand out to all attendees. Coming into the event unsure, unconfident and feeling a bit out of place, to building beautiful connections with so many of the women in attendance and leaving a lasting impression. Her acceptance speech received a standing ovation as she shared her unique work and life experience and her hopes for the future.
Sadly in January 2022, Cassandra Jones passed away after suffering from multiple illnesses. She is gone far too soon, however her legacy will live on. Cass had approached Ausmumpreneur with the idea of a scholarship and had been looking to raise her own profile with Lovelly Communications. So together, we are teaming up to give other women the opportunity to gain skills, learn from experts and build their brand through the Cass Jones Overcoming the Odds Scholarship.
This scholarship is valued at over $10,000 to provide a woman with a disability or chronic illness with the support, guidance and mentoring to take their business further in 2022. They will work with Emma as well as be a part of the Women’s Business School 2022 cohort.
There is 10 days left to nominate or apply, so please can you share this far and wide to your networks so we can support a woman to overcome the odds
Although I didn’t know her for very long, I know that we had a long friendship ahead of us and Cass had even been planning to join the Lovelly Brand Builders program and work on creating the future she wanted, for herself and so many others. I feel a great loss of what could have been, but I also know that Cass would absolutely LOVE what has been created in her memory.
Thank you in advance for helping to spread this message and to continue Cass’s legacy.
