Showing up is not showing off. Emma Lovell smiling at a personal retreat for women in business

Showing up is not showing off

Hi, Lovely.

It’s a short week. So I’m going to keep this one short.

I had a bit of an A-HA moment, this week, where I realised that in some ways, I’ve been holding myself back.

I encourage women to put themselves forward, to show up and make an impact to create and attract the life and work that they want.

But I know that in some ways (though it might not appear that way from my reels, and my Instagram and my socials and my attendance at events haha) that I’m not showing. But I know that in my heart, I am holding myself back. Why? Because of old stories, because of tall poppy syndrome, because I believed that’s what I was supposed to do. To make others feel better perhaps.

It wasn’t desirable to show up in full confidence, even in understanding that that’s who I was and that was natural to me. And I see, even now, there are still so many times where people are being told to sit down, to quiet themselves and to dim their light.

Why? So that others can shine brighter or so that others can feel better about themselves. In actual fact, I know that when I show up, not show off, that I am inspiring, I am motivating, I am encouraging others to do the same. And that is my superpower! I gravitate towards the light.

I did a pretty big post about this on my Instagram and LinkedIn. It was really lovely to see the response and so my message for you today is showing up is not showing off.

You choosing to share what you’re doing, to share who you are, to share the message that you are here to deliver in order to attract the life and the work that you want, the people that you wan, and then create the life that you want. That is not showing off. That is you choosing you and being you and doing it in the way that feels right for you!

So many people are so scared of showing up at all because they think of it as showing off or bragging or you know, wanting to be famous or being an influencer.

That’s not it. Not at all and it doesn’t have to be. So, I give you permission, if you need it, because I did!! To show up more, to know that it is not showing off and that anyone who deems it to be is not your audience and you can lovingly let them go.

I cannot wait to see you showing up in all of your gorgeous, uniqueness that is specifically unique to you.

If you’re ready, like I am, to show up, right back I’M READY TO SHOW UP!

Let’s do this.

Cheers,

Emma “Lovelly” Lovell
