Carols in the Alps a great success

The Carols in the Alps was a hit and we have some great photos for you!
Santa arrived to a huge crowd of kids riding a mower which filled them all with glee. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and clear night sky, perfect to belt out some old favourites for the festive season. All the performers did a brilliant job spreading Christmas cheer and a big thanks to the volunteers who decorated the Alphutte restaurant beautifully.

Media Release

14 December 2012

Carols in the Aussie Alps

Dinner Plain, Victoria: The Australian Alps will get a festive makeover this December as they play host to the annual Dinner Plain Christmas Carols. The Alpine Shire will come together in the “Secret Garden” at the back of the Alphutte Restaurant, Dinner plain on 21st December from 7pm.  A true community event with local schools and Dinner Plain favourites performing.

Dinner Plain is a popular Winter holiday location often resembles a Christmas village straight from a snow globe. In Summer, this beautiful location will play host to the Aussie Christmas and bring the community together with Carols in the Alps.

Local presenter Brian Smith will host this great night of entertainment with special guests Lisa Edwards, Michael Cristiano and Kathy Anstey leading the community in song to help celebrate the festive season.

As a teaser to the big event on Friday night, the wonderful choir at Swifts Creek Primary School will be performing for locals on Tuesday 18h December. The performance will take place at 11am at Swifts Creek Primary School, led by conductor Beverley Cook and attended by Peter McKenna of the Dinner Plain Council Board.

“It’s wonderful for these young people to show such passion for their rural community and share the festive spirit with local friends and family.” Says McKenna.

All the Christmas favourites will be sung by locals including Swifts Creek Primary School Choir, Members of the Wangaratta City Pipe Band, John Houghton, Dinner Plain Community Choir, Roger Heagney, Marcus Van Camp, Heather de Castella and of course the guest of honour, Father Christmas!

We hope you will join us for a wonderful community event and celebration of Christmas in the Alps.
