We’ve got another wonderful tickets giveaway for you all! The good people at Transmission Films are bringing to Australian screens the French film, Marguerite. Based on the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a woman with such a passion for singing she would give everything to live her dream of singing in a grand hall. A drama with heart and passion, you’ll be captivated from the first note.

marguerite

1921, the beginning of the Golden Twenties. Not far from Paris it is party day at Marguerite Dumont’s castle. Like every year, an array of music lovers gathers around a great cause at the owner’s place. Nobody knows much about this woman except that she is rich and that her whole life is devoted to her passion: music. Marguerite sings. She sings wholeheartedly, but she sings terribly out of tune. When a young, provocative journalist decides to write a rave article on her latest performance,Marguerite starts to believe even further in her talent. This gives her the courage she needs to follow her dream. Despite her husband’s reluctance, and with the help of a has-been divo, she decides to train for her first recital in front of a crowd of complete strangers. Inspired by the life of Florence Foster Jenkins.

  1. Wait, wait – you want us to incriminate ourselves in public!?

Okay – how about every time I bought an album by New Zealand singer Wing (I have seven or eight, I think), and / or went to one of her concerts, sat in the front row, and applauded…? Seems appropriate!

(She is kinda amazing, though. Much like Florence Foster Jenkins!)

    1. Love it Robert! Your support of the artist and also of this blog is Greatly appreciated!!

You’re a winner! We’ll email you with details on how to collect your tickets!

  2. I’ve told a friend of mine that she has a lovely voice (even though I thought hers was average) and that she should go audition for Australian Idol! I ended up eating my words because she managed to go through to the top 24!

  3. When Batman vs Superman came out, I saw it opening night and was pretty disappointed. Except my friend Ben is the most humongous fan of DC and was so damn excited for it that I couldn’t bear to tell him it was bad, so I told him it was awesome. Funnily enough, he enjoyed the film quite a bit, so my white lie didn’t get discovered!

  4. Hi Lovelly Communications, I can’t seem to send an email to you, it comes up with “delivery to this recipient failed permanently” for some reason

  5. We Taureans are stubborn and uncompromising, so it’s no surprise I call a spade a spade… I’ll help friends with their dreams but I just CAN’T bring myself to tell even the whitest of little lies I’m afraid!!!

  6. My sister cooked for me one night and I told her it was the best chicken roast I have ever had.She was pleased and quite happy.I lied to get her to cook for me the next week.A free invitation and free dinner. The food was average.

    1. Thanks for your entry Pete! I’m afraid all the tickets have now been given away.

Please do keep and eye out as we look to be running future competitions!

Lovelly to hear from you
